Copper Mountain is ten minutes west of Frisco on I-70, which makes it the easiest resort for us to reach in a storm. It is a village resort with condos in Center Village, East Village, and West Village, nearly all of them second homes or rentals, and a commercial core of lodges, shops, restaurants, and lodging offices that runs on the lift schedule. The buildings are older than they look, and renovations happen every shoulder season.

Because it is ten minutes from our office at 699 Ten Mile Drive, a storm that closes Vail Pass or slows Highway 9 rarely keeps us from a Copper turnover.
